About the Trinity Icon Painting

Andrei Rublev's Icon of The Trinity

This icon was painted by André Rublev around 1410 to portray the three angels Abraham hosted unawares at the oak of Mamre. Many have also recognised in it a reflection of the Trinity; the community of the triune Godhead.

For us as Trinity Church this icon reminds us of how we are invited into the community of God's own being through Jesus, with the active welcome of the Father and the Holy Spirit. The icon also models our own calling to be a community that welcomes people into our fellowship.
