Sunday Worship

An Introduction to the schedule and variety of services

Welcome to Trinity Church Eindhoven.  As a church we exist to be a living sign of God’s loving presence through English language worship, ministry, fellowship and mission.  As English is the mother tongue of so many people around the world and a second language to many more it is to be expected that we will reflect diversity rather than uniformity.  Just as one size of clothing will not fit everyone our pattern of services reflect our attempt to help diverse people say ‘Amen’ to God in corporate worship.

To this end we have developed and continue to develop a monthly pattern of Sunday services that vary in style while being constant in basic pattern and Biblical faithfulness.  This reflects a mission value of being firm on content of the Gospel while being flexible about its expression.  We currently support four approaches to corporate worship.  It is quite possible that not every approach is helpful for everyone.  However our hope is that at least one or two services will be helpful and allow you to join with others in regular Sunday Worship.

The schedule of services and description below may help you choose a service to think of as home while also suggest a service you might wish to visit.

The Monthly Menu:
Late Morning (10:30 a.m.) Informal ‘Oase’ Services. These have come to be known as ‘OASE Services’ after the facility in which they normally take place.  (Oase is the Dutch word for Oasis.) Oase Services take a more contemporary approach to worship with extended musical worship supported by a band and a sound system.  While the basic shape is that of Morning Prayer as known in the Anglican Tradition the songs and approaches to ministry resonate more with evangelical churches found around the world.  With the exception of fifth Sundays of the month they are not communion services.  While these services happen on odd numbered Sundays there is also a rhythm within this pattern.
• On first Sundays they are All-Age services in which children, youth and the various shades of adult are offered an opportunity for joint worship as a wider church family.  This is often creative and something of a surprise.
• On third Sundays the Oase Service is an Adult event without communion.
• On fifth Sundays of the year (quarterly) Oase services include communion.
Oase services always conclude with a time of fellowship over coffee or tea.

KidzChurch (10:30 a.m.) A Service for Children aged 4-11. On most Sundays excluding first Sundays (see All-Age Oase Service above), public and school holidays a congregation for children meets for all the same reasons adults do.  This is not a Sunday School but an adult supported church for and by children.  This congregation usually meets in the Coffee Rooms which is accessed from the main carpark.  There is provision for parents to make themselves familiar with this ministry by taking part.  A consultation with the KidzChurch Ministry Team would enable this.  The KidzChurch programme may enable children to join their parents for Communion on third Sundays though this is not a firm pattern.  As the Kidchurch venue is also the coffee venue this is where children remain to be rejoined with their parents.

Late Morning (10:30 a.m.) Chapel Service. This is a middle of the road liturgical service of word and holy communion incorporating a blend of traditional and more recent styles.  This takes place in the Main Chapel of the Eikenburg Complex and is hence referred to as the ‘Chapel Service’.  It is perhaps most reflective of the diversity we embody as a church.  These services take place on the second and fourth Sundays of the month.
