1Tim4Twelve is the group for 11-14 year olds

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.  1 Timothy Chapter 4 verse 12

This verse was chosen to describe the group of 11-14 year olds who meet every 2nd and 4th Sunday of each month in the swimming pool room during the 10:30am Chapel services .

What we do
Our group begins with a time of listening to Christian music and having a snack while we wait for everyone to arrive.  Those who have access to music they like can bring it for the others to hear.  We enjoy a game or two next to get to know each other better and have some friendly and often vigorous fun.

Then we look at our topic.  So far we have been looking at worship, prayer and hearing God through the Bible.  We have been listening to different sorts of modern Christian worship music, and discussing what songs and styles help each of us to really express what we want to say to God.  We have considered who God is and why we worship him.  We’ve also looked at music videos.  We each have a prayer diary with which we have learnt more about how to express ourselves to God and to listen to him.

We usually finish with some form of prayer for each other.  Then we chat for a while, play a game again and tidy up until it’s time to go over to the coffee fellowship after the Chapel service has finished.

Every meeting has something different so no-one knows what to expect but God has plenty of room to work among us, opening our minds to new things, drawing us closer to each other and him and hopefully helping us to develop our own relationship with him in our own way as we 11-14 year olds grow through the transition from children to teenagers.

We’d really like you all to pray for us.  So far Barbara Noordanus and Inge Maatje are leading the group and we always need fresh inspiration and new ideas.  We expect to begin exploring such topics as being Church and communion over the next year.  We look forward to developing a worship life together and possibly having a sleepover one weekend.  We hope that every young person who comes into this group may grow in their ability to set an example to others in Trinity Church in their speech, life, love, faith and purity.
