Lord, Bring Light to our Darkness

Recorded on Sunday, March 26, 2017

Jesus brings sight to the man born blind. We may be blinded by a system of moral cause and effect (which e.g. labels a birth defect as a result of sin) like that of the pharisees, by our fears like those of the man's parents or by our pains and sorrows like the man before Jesus healed him. But the new creation Jesus brings comes with his healing exposing light. Our response to him of faith, acceptance, hope brings us out of the darkness and into the light.

Trusting God's Love

Recorded on Sunday, March 19, 2017

Do we really trust God's love for us, as weak, ungodly, sinners and enemies of God? Do we trust that he has done everything to reconcile us and that we can do no more than trust his love? Do we trust that he loves us even when we suffer? Barbara explains the radical core of the gospel that Romans 5:1-11 demonstrates: why we can trust God's love for us and what that means for us.

God's Grace in the Upside-Down Kingdom

Recorded on Sunday, January 29, 2017

The beginning of the Sermon on the Mount introduces the theme of Jesus' teaching on God's Kingdom - not good advice but good news to all who follow Jesus. The coming of the Kingdom of Heaven which Jesus announces and demonstrates reverses our ideas of what is blessed. Barbara shows how the Beatitudes are not rules but show God's grace in ways the world does not expect.
