Recorded on Sunday, January 29, 2017

The beginning of the Sermon on the Mount introduces the theme of Jesus' teaching on God's Kingdom - not good advice but good news to all who follow Jesus. The coming of the Kingdom of Heaven which Jesus announces and demonstrates reverses our ideas of what is blessed. Barbara shows how the Beatitudes are not rules but show God's grace in ways the world does not expect.

Servants of the Lord

Recorded on Sunday, January 15, 2017

Isaiah 49:1-7, the second servant song, speaks of the call on Israel to be a light to the nations and bring God's salvation to the end of the earth, even though they were in the midst of a world where everything could seem hopeless, returning from 70 years exile to a destroyed and impoverished land surrounded by enemies. Barbara shows the corporate and individual nature of this call for them, fulfilled in Jesus and applied also to us.
