Advent 4 Prophetic Expectation

Recorded on Sunday, December 22, 2013

God's words and actions in the past, both in the Bible and our personal experience, are worthy of deep reflection in a way that many moderns find difficult amidst a hurried life. In this message Francis opens the links between past events and present expectation established between Isaiah and Matthew and as this is found in Paul's introduction to his letter to the Romans. The ways God has saved in the past establishes expectation for the present. This was very much alive when Matthew and Paul wrote about Jesus in a way we can imitate.

An Advent Message- Good News Or Bad News?

Recorded on Sunday, December 8, 2013

An Advent message drawing on Isaiah and particularly John the Baptist's prophetic descriptions of how the coming Messiah would impact the world with judgment. Judgement is not what most people really want so time is taken to spell out what the Bible means by judgment as opposed to how the world practices it today. The message is preceded by an interactive introduction to the readings with the text of the reading provided.

After A Week, It's Advent.

Recorded on Sunday, December 1, 2013

On the first Sunday of Advent Francis reflected on the grief experienced within the congregation during the previous week. He opened up the way Advent recognises the darkness, the light that challenged it in Christ and how his resurrection broke its power as well as the hope for Christ's Return on the Day of the Lord. Believers are encouraged to live lives in this story.
