A Resurrection Faith For Hi-Tech Scientists

No resurrection = no Christian Faith.  What the first apostolic observers reported about the resurrected Christ began a faith process of exploration and testing that has much in common with the way scientists may move from observation to hypothesis and then experimental testing.  On Easter Sunday [2010] Francis makes some brief comparisons to encourage people in the Hi Tech city of Eindhoven in their faith and reflection on the Resurrection account swhich provide the basis for Christian Faith through the centuries.

Jesus Is Anointed At Bethany

Mary, the sister of Lazarus and Martha,  anointed Jesus when he came to her home for dinner.  So far so good but she uses a whole jar of perfume, the equivalent of a year's income and let down he hair to wipe his feet.  Francis brings out the extrvagant nature of this grand gesture and holds it up as an example to take note of.

The Central Importance Of Repentance

What would Jesus have said to me in my terible experiences?  What would he have told me to do if he knew my difficulties.  We may well be surprised as were those who had this sort of conversation with Jesus as recorded in Luke chapter 13 vv.1-9.  Jan Waterschoot highlights the clear lines of Jesus' concern and recognises the continuity of his message with the prophetic tradition of Israel.
