Trees as a Sign of the Kingdom of God

The fourth chapter of Mark’s Gospel contains a succession of parables told by Jesus to describe the Kingdom of God. Parables are used by spiritual teachers who want to teach something in such a way that it is only received by those who are willing to receive it. Parables are opportunities for revelation and illumination in people open to illumination and willing to receive revelation that may require change or transform them. For anyone to compose an effective parable is impressive so Jesus is the undisputed master of the parable.

Waiting in the Gap
