Increase our Faith

Sermon of Sunday, October 6, 2013

Preacher: Barbara Noordanus

Scriptures: Luke 17:5-10

The disciples ask, as we might also, "Increase our faith" so that we can do all these hard things that are required of us as disciples. Jesus doesn't grant them this but instead challenges their view of faith, using the illustration of the relationship between a slave and his master.

We don't possess faith as something we exercise to somehow get God to do great things. Rather, knowing our own unworthiness, we trust in our great and gracious God to help us to do what is required of us in obeying and loving him. Our glorious God is the object of our faith, not our ability to be faithful or trust in him.
