Being Ready for Jesus' Coming

Sermon of Sunday, December 3, 2017

Preacher: Barbara Noordanus

Scriptures: 1Corinthians 1:3-9

The challenge for this Advent is to take our attention away from the pressures and distractions of today's world and look forward to the coming of God's powerful presence in Jesus on the Day of the Lord. Barbara gives Paul's rationale for writing this thanksgiving prayer at the beginning of a letter to a church in crisis. Focussing on God and what he is doing in each other, how he is witnessed to in their lives, builds the unity of the fellowship and helps us trust that he is faithful and will strengthen us to the end.
