1Tim4Twelve

“Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith, and in purity.” 1 Timothy Chapter 4 verse 12.

This verse was chosen to describe the group for those aged 11+ (or those at the ISSE school or in the Dutch Group 8 or middelbare school) who meet every 1st and 3rd Sunday of each month during the 10:30am communion services.

1Tim4Twelve Group

What we do

Our group begins with a time of listening to Christian music while we wait for everyone to arrive.  Those who have access to music they like can bring it for the others to hear.  Next we enjoy a game or two to get to know each other better and have some friendly and often vigorous fun.

We share Bible verses and testimonies illustrating how we have experienced God in our lives over the last two weeks, and explore a topic through various activities. Recently we have looked at following Jesus and at lots of Bible verses that give us help when that gets difficult, e.g. when we feel peer pressure.

We usually finish with some form of prayer for each other. Then we tidy up and either join the end of the communion service or go over to the coffee fellowship after the service has finished.

Our Programme

The programme Aaron, Kate, Hwee-Chong, and Divya organise for this age group is designed to cater for the transition between child and teenager, between concrete and abstract thinking about life and faith. It involves much relating of experience to concept in learning about our Christian faith and therefore is quite active at times. We also try to relate our faith to popular culture, music, etc. Every meeting has something different so no-one knows what to expect but God has plenty of room to work among us, opening our minds to new things, drawing us closer to each other and him and hopefully helping us to develop our own relationship with him in our own way.

Pray for us

We’d really like you all to pray for us. We always need fresh inspiration, new ideas and new volunteers to join our leadership team. We hope that every young person who comes into this group may grow in their ability to set an example to others in Trinity Church in their speech, life, love, faith and purity.
